Dr. Rondon-Berrios is a Professor of Medicine in the Renal-Electrolyte Division at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he also serve as the Program Director of the Nephrology Fellowship Training Program. Dr. Rondon-Berrios obtained his MD degree at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. He then completed Internal Medicine Residency training at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas followed by Nephrology Fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he also received a Master of Science degree in medical education. Dr. Rondon-Berrios has authored several publications in the area of hyponatremia. He had received NIH funding to study the role of oral urea in the management of chronic hyponatremia. His current research focus on the efficacy and safety profile of desmopressin to prevent rapid correction of hyponatremia, and the neurological outcomes of profound hyponatremia (plasma sodium < 110 mmol/L).
