Dr. María Carlota González-Bedat was the General Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension (SLANH) in the period 2019-2021, were she was Vice-President of Region 1 from 2014 to 2017.nnShe graduated as Physician and obtained the title of Specialist in Nephrology at the University of the Republic (UdelaR), Uruguay. She was Vice-President of the Uruguayan Nephrology Society from 2014 to 2016.nnShe is the Director of the Uruguayan Dialysis Registry since 2002 (having been member of the Executive Committee since 1994).In the Latin American Dialysis and Renal Transplantation Registry (LADRTR), she is National Delegate on behalf of Uruguay since 2001, was member of the Executive Board from 2007 to 2012 and is Co-Coordinator since 2012.nnBecause her assignment in the LADRTR, she was the Local Coordinator of 1st, 2nd y 3rd Introductory Course in Epidemiology in Latin America (ERA-EDTA CME Course) and she has performed as Temporary Advisor of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), as Technical consultant and teacher organizer in 1st and 2nd Training and Certification Course for National Delegates of Dialysis and Transplant Registries (Costa Rica, 2014 and Peru 2015), as Coordinator of the Workshop and field visit to strengthen the technical capacity of the National Dialysis and Renal Transplant Registry (El Salvador and Nicaragua: March/2016, Honduras and Guatemala: April/2016, Mexico: November/2016) and as Coordinator of the Regional Workshop on Dialysis and Transplant Registries (Panamá. November/2017). She is member of the ISN SharE-RR team on behalf of SLANH since 2017 and represent the Latin America region as a Member of the ISN Advocacy Working Group since 2021.She is the author of multiple scientific indexed publications referred to Kidney Replacement Therapy Registries and to Advocacy tasks in the field of Nephrology. She contributed to the founding of the Gender Committee of SLANH and is currently one of its advisors.
