Leonella Luzardo is currently an Assistant Professor in the Nephrology Center at the Hospital de Clínicas in Montevideo, Uruguay. She completed her internal medicine residency and a master´s degree in medical science at the School of Medicine, UDELAR, in Uruguay. She was a Fellow of the Experimental Nephrology and Transplantation Laboratory at Bellvitge University Hospital in Barcelona, Spain, in 2010 and of the Laboratory of Hypertension at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Leuven, Belgium, in 2011. In 2019, Luzardo was awarded an ISN Fellowship which enabled her to travel to Spain for a six months’ nephrology training at the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid, Spain. She is a member of the Uruguayan Registry of Dialysis and the Uruguayan Registry of Glomerulopathies. Luzardo's research interests are evaluating the pathological mechanisms of glomerular diseases and the epidemiological analysis of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing renal replacement therapy.
