Professor Edwina Brown is a consultant nephrologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and is President of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD). She has over 200 publications which mostly focus on peritoneal dialysis, outcomes of older people with advanced kidney disease and renal supportive care. Her current study is Kidney Transplantation in Older People (KTOP). She is passionate about person-centred care and chaired the development of the 2020 ISPD guideline on ‘Prescribing high quality, goal-directed peritoneal dialysis’ and co-chaired the KDIGO controversies conference on symptom-based complications in dialysis in May 2022. She has been awarded a Fellowship of the European Renal Association and an honorary membership of the UK Kidney Association. Her aims as president of ISPD are to promote equity of access to and increase availability of peritoneal dialysis in both high and low income countries.
