Dr. K. Sampathkumar is a senior consultant nephrologist at Meenakshi Mission Hospital, Madurai , India. He has done pioneering work for the growth of Interventional Nephrology in India. In addition , his original studies on use of Niacin for Phosphorus control, Hair Dye Poisoning induced AKI, Aminophylline’s use in prevention of AKI in cardiac surgery and Proton Pump inhibitor induced AIN are being cited widely. He has active training programme in his department for the Nephrology fellowship for the past 20 years. He is currently the President of Asia Pacific Society of Dialysis Access. He has held various administrative posts in the Indian Society of Nephrology. He was also an executive committee member of Interventional Nephrology group in ISN. He has been awarded the Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians , Glasgow and American Society of Nephrology besides the Indian Society Fellowship. He has authored more than 100 peer reviewed articles, Book chapters and Commentaries.
