Session description:
This session will define and describe the principles of CKM, how to have discussions around CKM, and how to managing the common complications of CKD for people receiving CKM. A round table discussion at the end of the session will use a clinical scenario to discuss challenges in implementing some of the fundamental principles of CKM, particularly in low resource settings and with challenging cultural issues.
Learning objectives:
Understand the concepts of conservative kidney management (CKM) and kidney supportive care. Understand how to deliver CKM in the context of managing the common complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Understand shared decision-making in the context of CKM across different clinical and cultural settings.
