Dr. Tomoko Horinouchi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine. She earned both her MD and PhD from Kobe University, with a specialization in pediatric nephrology. Dr. Horinouchi's research primarily focuses on the molecular genetics of renal diseases, encompassing both genetic diseases such as Alport syndrome and common diseases like steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome. She has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Chairman's Award and the Clinician Scientist Award from the Japanese Society of Nephrology. Dr. Horinouchi has an extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at numerous international conferences. In her professional career, she has served as Chief Physician at Hyogo Prefectural Kobe Children’s Hospital and as Ward Medical Director at Kobe University Hospital. Dr. Horinouchi is a board-certified pediatrician and nephrologist, and a member of several esteemed medical societies, including the American Society of Nephrology, the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, the Japanese Society of Nephrology, and the Japanese Society of Pediatric Nephrology.
