JorisRoelofs
Joris Roelofs is professor of Pathology and Principal Investigator in the Amsterdam University Medical Center. He received his medical training at KU Leuven, Belgium, and the VU University, Amsterdam, where he received his MD degree in 2000. He received his PhD degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Amsterdam in 2007 and was board certified in Pathology in 2008. In 2010, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Kirkland Center for Lupus Research (Cornell University Medical College, New York City). He divides his time between clinical pathology, teaching and research. His current research interest concerns the pathogenetic mechanisms of diabetic nephropathy and environmental causes of kidney disease. He has co-authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications, is editor of a textbook on Diabetic Nephropathy, and is involved in protocol and guideline development, both on the national and international level.
