Masaomi Nangaku is Dean and a professor and head of the division of nephrology and endocrinology, the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine. He is Immediate-Past President of the International Society of Nephrology, President of the Japanese Society of Nephrology, Immediate-Past President of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, and Vice President of the Japanese Medical Science Federation. He is also Vice President of the Asia Telemedicine Society and Past President of the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology. He has published more than 650 original articles and 120 reviews articles in international journals, and has given 170 invited talks at international academic meetings. His principal interests in nephrology include diabetic kidney disease and oxygen biology in the kidney including anemia in CKD. He is also a chair of the “Moonshot Research and Development Program” of telemedicine.
