Associate Professor Brendon Neuen is a clinician–scientist with international expertise in cardio-kidney-metabolic medicine and clinical trials. He trained in nephrology, epidemiology, and clinical trials in Sydney, at the University of Oxford, and at Harvard Medical School. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology. A/Prof Neuen holds senior leadership roles across multiple international randomised clinical trials evaluating novel therapies to reduce kidney disease progression and cardiovascular risk. He founded the SGLT2 Meta-Analysis Cardio-Renal Trialists’ Consortium (SMART-C), integrating individual participant data from over 90,000 patients to define treatment effects across diverse kidney and cardiometabolic phenotypes. His research has directly informed more than 25 international and national clinical practice guidelines, position statements, and scientific consensus documents. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading general medical journals, including The Lancet, JAMA, and Nature Medicine, and serves on the Editorial Boards of the American Society of Nephrology and Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation.
