Ricardo Correa-Rotter is a Professor and Researcher of the Department of Nephrology and Mineral Metabolism at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ), Mexico. Professor of Medicine and Nephrology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and of Nephrology at the Panamerican University, Mexico and member of the Academy of Medicine of Mexico. Obtained his medical degree from the UNAM and specialised in internal medicine and nephrology at the INCMNSZ, Mexico and the University of Minnesota, USA. Obtained the "Gabino Barreda" medal for best Medical Student of UNAM. Dr Correa-Rotter is immediate past Secretary General of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), and past-President of the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension. Previous international positions: Chair of the Nominating Committee for the ISN, Chair of the ISN Global Outreach for Latin America, councillor for ISN, member of the board of KDIGO, and member of the Postgraduate Education Committee of the American Society of Nephrology. Has been awarded the Medal as Distinguished International Nephrologist of the National Kidney Foundation. In addition, serves and has served on the editorial board of several international nephrology journals and has contributed with over 290 peer reviewed publications and over 60 book chapters.nArea of interest: clinical trials in nephrology, diabetic nephropathy, bone and mineral metabolism, renal replacement treatment, peritoneal dialysis and lupus nephritis.
