I studied medicine at the University of Costa Rica and later trained in pediatric surgery. I continued my training in Japan, at Kyoto University with Professor Koichi Tanaka, and completed my training at the University of Goettingen in Germany and at La Fe Hospital in Spain. When I came back to my country, I began the living liver transplant program at the National Children\'s Hospital in San José, Costa Rica. I lead the liver transplant group at Hospital Mexico in San José, Costa Rica. I have a Master\'s degree in bioethics from the National University of Costa Rica and have been part of the Istanbul Declaration group since its origins in 2008. Since then, I have worked in the region and the country against the exploitation of vulnerable populations at risk of organ trafficking from various areas. Currently, since this year, I have the honor of being co-chair of the DICG.
