Kei Fukami, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at Kurume University School of Medicine, Japan. He is a practicing nephrologist with extensive experience in the management of chronic kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease, and dialysis therapy. His research interests include renal pathophysiology, renal rehabilitation, and the development of novel therapeutic strategies for kidney disease. He serves as a Board Member of the Japanese Society of Nephrology and as Vice Chair of its International Committee. Dr. Fukami has played active roles in national and international nephrology societies, including the International Society of Nephrology, contributing to educational and collaborative initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and frequently serves as a speaker and chair at major scientific meetings. Through clinical practice, research, and education, he is committed to advancing kidney care and fostering the next generation of nephrologists.
