Dr. Peter C. Harris, PhD, is Professor of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. The focus of Dr. Harris’ career has been polycystic kidney disease (PKD); identifying eight PKD-related disease genes and developing PKD animal models. He is presently PI or co-PI on 3 NIH R01 grants, is co-PI on a Department of Defense (DoD) project grant, and has a project on a DoD Center grant. In addition, he headed the NIH funded ADPKD Genetic Modifier Study, is Director of the Mayo PKD Center, and curates the PKD Foundation ADPKD Mutation Database. He has published ~350 peer reviewed papers, mainly about PKD, and has a Scopus h-index = 96. In 2003, he received the inaugural Lillian Jean Kaplan Prize for Advancement in the Understanding of PKD and in 2008 the Homer Smith Award from the American Society of Nephrology.
