Tushar J. Vachharajani, MD, FASN is Professor & Chair of the Department of Medicine at John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Vice Chair for Medicine at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan, USA. Dr. Vachharajani has served in multiple leadership roles with the ISN focused around dialysis access care education and training procedural skills around the world. He currently serves as the Chair of the Core Programs Committee. His earlier roles included serving as Chair of the Interventional Nephrology (IN) Committee and Education Workgroup, Founder Editor of the ISN Academy, and Chair for the IN hands-on workshops at World Congress of Nephrology. Besides ISN, he has helped organize symposiums and hands-on workshops with ASN, NKF, ASDIN, AVATAR, ISHD, EMAN, KRA, AFRAN. His other contributions include serving on committees of Fistula First Initiative, NKF 2019 Vascular Access Guidelines, ASN’s Nephrologists Transforming Dialysis Safety initiative and as international expert for the Standardized Outcomes Research in Nephrology (SONG). He is the recipient of the Gerald Beathard Award from ASDIN for excellence in teaching and scholarly activity in 2016, The AVATAR Hero Award in 2017, the ISN Roscoe Robinson Award in 2021, and Guru Dronacharya Award from AVATAR Foundation, India in 2023. He has published 250 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and reviews. He serves on the editorial boards of the Kidney International Reports, Seminars in Dialysis, Journal of Vascular Access, Frontiers in Nephrology and Indian Journal of Nephrology.
