Shruti Tapiawala (MD) is a senior Nephrologist and Transplant Physician at Gleneagles Hospital and Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital & Research Center, Mumbai. She is a Clinical laboratory director for HLA medicine at Advance Transplant Diagnostics and Immunology laboratory in Mumbai, India. She completed her MD Medicine from Mumbai University, Nephrology training with National Board, Delhi, India. And perused adult nephrology, transplantation and HLA medicine fellowships at University Health Network, Toronto, Canada. She is a Transplant Physician and Immunologist in the kidney, heart, lung, small bowel, pancreas and VCA transplant teams. She has special interest in transplantation, transplant immunology, renal nutrition and prevention of kidney disease. She has pioneered in establishing a state of the art HLA laboratory in India and trains clinicians in HLA medicine. She has established a national registry and software for providing acceptable mismatch transplants for sensitised transplant recipients- SORTER. She has served as a member of transplant immunology workforce at Indian society of Organ transplantation She serves as the President of Indian Society of Nephrology-West Zone Chapter and Women in Nephrology Maharashtra. She has previously served as a joint secretary of Women in Nephrology, India. She has authored and reviewed multiple peer-reviewed publications and chapters in transplantation, transplant Immunology and Renal Nutrition in national and International Journals. She has been a national faculty in these sub-specialities since 2009.
