SHOICHI MARUYAMA Japan

Shoichi Maruyama、M.D. Department of Nephrology Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine 65 Tsurumai-cho, Showa-ku, Nagoya 466-8550, Japan CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS 1. Clinical research on glomerulonephritis and CKD I served as the Chair of the CKD Guideline Revision Committee of the Japanese Society of Nephrology. I am working as a leader of the steering committee on J-RBR/J-KDR (Japan Renal Biopsy Registry/Japan Kidney Disease Registry). I am also studying the pathological mechanisms of membranous nephropathy especially in Japanese patients who are negative for anti-PLA2R Ab or anti-THSD7A Ab. 2. Clinical research on aHUS I am working as a leader of nation wide registry of aHUS (Japan aHUS registry). We are conducting sheep erythrocytes hemolytic assay, which can detect the dysfunction of complement factor H. I am also working as a leader of a guide for aHUS management in Japan. 3. Cellular therapy using adipose tissue-derived stem/stromal cells We have found that adipose tissue-derived stem/stromal cells (ASC) has strong regererative and immunomodulatory properties. We conducted a first human study using ASC to patients with refractory IgA nephritis.
