Session description:
Identifying research priorities and methods for addressing key areas of controversies in CKDu. The aim of this workshop is to address issues and propose methodologies to overcome challenges in CKDu management. Different tools will be needed for different study designs. Rather than proposing specific case or outcome definitions for research, we hope that the workshop generates a series of recommendations or a ‘toolbox’ for researchers to access when planning studies of different designs in a range of settings.
Learning objectives:
To identify the types of studies are required to achieve a consensus case definition for CKDu. To identify approaches to standardizing pathology evaluation of existing and future biopsy-based diagnoses of CKDu. To identify advanced molecular techniques in kidney biopsy that should be prioritized to facilitate investigating cause and determining prognosis. To arrive at a consensus on the interpretation of urinary proteomic data in CKDu and its diagnostic applications. To identify research priorities in in environmental epidemiology and exposome techniques in CKDu. To arrive at a consensus on the evaluation of interventions that are currently being used in the management of CKDu.
