Session Description:
This session will cover cutting-edge topics in acute kidney injury (AKI), including new data on the long-term prognostication in AKI. We will synthesize the evidence on biomarkers in AKI, including newly developed prediction models for certain AKI phenotypes. We will discuss unique challenges for community-acquired AKI in tropical regions, and the role of sex in AKI pathophysiology and epidemiology.
Learning Objectives:
1.Evaluate the association between AKI and long-term adverse outcomes, and its implications for patient management and follow-up.
2.Assess the clinical utility and readiness of AKI biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic decision-making.
3.Understand the unique characteristics of community-acquired AKI in tropical regions and the role of sex differences in AKI epidemiology to improve personalized care and outcomes.
