George Thomas is a nephrologist and hypertension specialist and is the Director of the Center for Blood Pressure Disorders in the Department of Kidney Medicine at Cleveland Clinic, USA. He completed his Internal Medicine training in Boston and then completed a fellowship in Nephrology from Cleveland Clinic. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins USA, with a focus in International Health. He has been on the clinical staff at Cleveland Clinic since 2010, and is Associate Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member of the American Society of Nephrology.
His research interests include resistant hypertension, and he has been involved in multiple research trials including the SPRINT hypertension study, Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) study, and renal denervation research trials. He has published extensively in medical journals including the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Nephrology Dialysis and Transplant, and American Journal of Transplantation.
