Dr. Kanjanabuch is serving as Professor of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He is also the Director of the Center of Excellence in Kidney Metabolic Disorders at Chulalongkorn University and plays a pivotal role as the Secretary-General and Executive Member of The Nephrology Society of Thailand.
On the international stage, Professor Kanjanabuch holds influential positions, including Deputy Chair of the OSEA Regional Board of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), Chapter Leader for the ISPD-Asia-Pacific Chapter, and serves on the Councils for both ISN and the Asia Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN). He is a key member of the International Steering Committee for the Peritoneal Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (PDOPPS), the ISN Nominating Committee 2024-2025, and the Global Steering Committee for STEP-PD 2024.
His research focuses on clinical and translational science in peritoneal dialysis (PD) and glomerular diseases. With over 180 peer-reviewed articles and more than 60 book chapters, his work has garnered over 7,000 citations on Google Scholar. His contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Young Investigator Awards from ISPD Congresses (Montreal, 2001, and Hong Kong, 2006), the Jonas Bergstrom Best Abstract Award (Mexico City, 2010), the Outstanding Young Physician Award (2017), and the Outstanding Research Award (2020) from the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand and the Research Awards (2021, 2023, and 2024) from the Nephrology Society of Thailand, as well as the AJKD Editors’ Choice Award (2023).
Professor Kanjanabuch is renowned for his involvement in major collaborative research projects worldwide, translating findings into impactful clinical practices and health improvements. His key contributions include the development of the 2022 ISPD Peritonitis Guidelines, the 2023 KDIGO Controversies Conference on Home Dialysis, and the 2018 KDIGO Hepatitis C in CKD Guideline. He has also played a significant role in several international trials, such as PDOPPS, SONG-PD, ISPD-GREX, and STEP-PD. His advocacy efforts extend to engaging with policymakers and organizations on Thailand’s ‘PD First’ Policy, demonstrating his commitment to advancing global nephrology practice.
