Ramon Garcia Trabanino El Salvador

Ramón García-Trabanino is a nephrologist from El Salvador. He has provided care to Mesoamerican endemic Nephropathy (CKDu) patients since 1999 when his team first described the disease, and has published about 40 papers and book chapters related to CKDu. His discovery and dedication have earned him the Salvadoran "National Award of Medical Research", and the "Award of the President" of the SLANH. Trained in Barcelona, Spain, works at "Centro de Hemodialisis" in San Salvador, and also as volunteer nephrologist for the Emergency Social Fund for Health of Tierra Blanca -a community organization at the Bajo Lempa region- and as Research Collaborator of the Boston University School of Public Health’s CKDu research group. Currently, he is the Vice President of SLANH, Chair of the SLANH Committee for Mesoamerican Nephropathy, and Director of the SLANH Continuing Medical Education Institute (IFC SLANH).
