Bernhard Dumoulin United States

Dr. Bernhard Dumoulin is a clinician-scientist in Professor Katalin Susztak’s laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree from Charité University Medicine Berlin, where his dissertation in molecular biology was awarded summa cum laude, and trained in internal medicine and nephrology under Professor Tobias Huber at Hamburg University Medical Center. Supported by a Walter Benjamin Fellowship, he joined the University of Pennsylvania to apply large-scale spatial transcriptomics to study immune–epithelial interactions in kidney disease and develop multimodal models that integrate spatial transcriptomics, histopathology, and clinical data for patient-specific prediction and targeted therapy. Dr. Dumoulin is a recipient of the 2025 American Society of Nephrology Ben J. Lipps Research Fellowship and serves as an Editorial Fellow at Kidney International.
