Marie Evans Sweden

Marie Evans, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Nephrology at Karolinska Institutet and a consultant nephrologist at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden working mainly with home-dialysis (home-hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis). Dr Evans’ research focuses on registry-based epidemiology in advanced CKD, including prognostic factors and pharmaco-epidemiology. Her clinical research has a focus on cardio-renal disease mechanisms and outcomes. She has played a central role in developing the Swedish Renal Registry (SRR-CKD), is the chair of the Swedish Renal Research network, and serve as national coordinator for the European EQUAL study. She is the coordinating and principal investigator of the multi-centre registry-randomized controlled clinical trial SACK, investigating efficacy and safety of oral anticoagulants in patients with atrial fibtrillation and CKD stage 5. She has supervised multiple PhD students and published over 170 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
