Dr. Alejandro Ferreiro-Fuentes graduated from the University of the Republic of Uruguay, completed the Internal Medicine Residence, the postgraduate in Nephrology and the postgraduate in Health Services Management. He is Associate Professor of nephrology at Universidad de la República, and is part of the National System of Researchers (SNI-ANII). Main research areas are:1) Epidemiology and health-care planning for CKD and its complications. 2) AKD: prevention, epidemiology, clinical, and long-term outcomes.He was President of the Uruguayan Society of Nephrology, the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension (SLANH) and actually is member of the Council and co-chair of de LARB of ISN, member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Registry of Dialysis and co-Coordinator of the Acute Kidney Injury Group of SLANH. The scientific production has been published in books, review articles, reports or complete scientific articles in regional and extra-regional indexed journals.
