Hot Debate - The KDIGO BP Targets in CKD Are (Un)Achievable and (Un)Realistic

8 Feb 2025 4:15 p.m. 5:15 p.m.
Brahmkamal Hall - Plenary Hall

Session Description:
The KDIGO 2021 Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of blood pressure (BP) in CKD suggested that adults with high BP and CKD be treated with a target systolic BP of <120 mm Hg, when tolerated, using standardized office BP measurement (2B). This suggestion is aligned with their recommendation for using standardized office BP measurement in preference to routine office BP measurement (1B). It also indicates that it is potentially hazardous to apply the recommended SBP target of <120 mm Hg to BP measurements obtained in a non-standardized manner. This session will debate whether these recommendations and suggestions are achievable and realistic.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the rationale behind the KDIGO target SBP for CKD.
2. Understand the implementability and safety of the KDIGO SBP target in routine clinical practice.
