Session Description:
This session contains extremely relevant topics that we cannot forget because of the serious ethical implications involved. In addition, two aspects of permanent importance in the field of renal transplantation are addressed.
Learning Objectives:
To update our knowledge and responsibility on events related to organ trafficking and transplant tourism at the international level, as well as the measures in place to deal with these issues. To understand the origin and the enormous differences that exist in the practice of renal transplantation in the countries of Latin America and Caribbean Region. To remain aware of the diverse causes that generate acute graft dysfunction, its early recognition and treatment. To highlight the relevance of knowing the risk variants of the APOL1 gene in renal transplant donors and recipients.
