Dr. Sanghamitra Pati is the Additional Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research, the apex body in India, which formulates, coordinates, and promotes biomedical research and policy development. A distinguished physician, laboratory scientist, and public health researcher, her work has focused on the prevention of chronic diseases and health management in primary care settings. In her current and past roles, she has been pivotal in developing and implementing health policies. Her leadership has been impactful, particularly in shaping the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has also led investigations into multimorbidity and CKD of unknown etiology in the state of Odisha. A distinguished, globally recognized academic, she has had an illustrious career, including as the Director of the Regional Medical Research Centre in Bhubaneswar, Odisha from August 2016 to December 2024. She has received multiple awards in appreciation of her contribution to public health and research.
