Kamal Shah NephroPlusIndia

Kamal Shah
Kamal D. Shah has been on dialysis since July 1997. Diagnosed with atypical haemolytic uremic syndrome in July 1997, he was on in-centre haemodialysis, had an unsuccessful kidney transplant, was on Peritoneal Dialysis, Daily Nocturnal Home Hemodialysis and now finally on Daily Nocturnal Home Hemodiafiltration. Kamal leads a completely normal life - he swims every morning, works full time and travels at will. In 2009, Kamal co-founded NephroPlus, a network of dialysis centres along with Vikram Vuppala, a healthcare strategy consultant, who was the Founder and CEO. They resolved to make this a truly patient-centric company by enabling patients (whom they call “guests”) to lead normal lives despite being on dialysis. NephroPlus conducts events like the Dialysis Olympiad where dialysis patients participate in an Olympics-style games event. They also have a very popular Holiday Dialysis program. NephroPlus is now present in 5 countries in Asia and the Middle East.
