Depression has been associated with impaired recovery and increased mortality in many diseases. The psychological health of patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) has been the subject of concern for many years since
this was across-sectional studyconducted on 80 patients on regular hemodialysis who attended hemodialysis units of Qena and Luxor General Hospital, Egypt during the period study from November 2022 till August 2023. Full history taking, laboratory investigations, and depression assessment using the beck depressioninventory were done for all patients.
Depression score has statisticallysignificant positive correlation with the age,duration of dialysis, uric acid, urea, PTH, U.F.volume, anxiety score and has statistically significant negative correlation with KT/V, hemoglobin, HCT, Na, K, Ca, albumin, and vitamin D. Logistic regression analysis reveal that the presence of other comorbidities, age >40years, widow/divorced marital status areassociated with increase the risk for depression in patients with CKD on hemodialysis.
