Abstract titles should be brief and reflect the content of the abstract.
Diabetic Kidney Disease (DKD) is one of the causes of CKD which is characterized by albuminuria, a decrease in estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR), or both. DKD increases cardiovascular disease mortality 20 - 30 times higher than general population. Moringa oleifera is a plant native to Ngawenombo Village Kunduran District, Blora Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Moringa oleifera leaf extract play an important role in the management of DKD. It contains crypto-chlorogenic acid, quercetin 3-O-glucoside and kaempferol 3-O-glucoside that have antioxidant and antiinflammation effect to repair endothelial damage in glomerulus, decrease albuminuria levels. Hypotheses explain mechanism to slow down DKD progressivity, aiding control of glucose levels, reducing Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS) activation, and reducing fibrosis. It is necessary to conduct research of Moringa oleifera leaf extract to inhibit the progression of DKD, especially on albuminuria.
Randomised Control Trial (RCT) pre-test and post-test experimental studies on male Sprague dawley mice model of DKD. Total of 27 samples. Held in laboratory animal experiment in Yogyakarta from November 2024 – January 2025. Mice were made a DKD model by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin nicotinamide for 3 days then free treatment for 2 weeks. An albuminuria was carried out before therapy. The experimental animals were divided into 3 groups, DKD (Group 1), DKD + Moringa oleifera leaf extract 500mg/kg per oral for 28 days (Group 2), DKD + calcitriol 0,0045 mcg/200 gram per oral + Moringa oleifera leaf extract 500mg/kg for 28 days (Group 3). After that, albuminuria levels was checked again.
Groups 2 and 3 decreased albuminuria levels compared to group 1, and the one that lowered albuminuria the most was group 3. The combination group of calcitriol and Moringa oleifera leaf extract best lowered levels of albuminuria (-4.18; p ≤ 0.001).
