The association of glomerular disease and malignancy was first suggested by Galloway in 1922. The most common glomerular disease described in solid organ malignancy is Membranous nephtopathy. Here I present six different biopsy proven glomerular disease associated with solid organ malignancy.
The patients were adults diagnosed cases of solid organ malignancy presenting with Renal dysfunction and nephrotic syndrome. These patient’s underwent kidney biopsy after proper consent. According to the presentation some of theses patients received conservative treatment whereas some received immunosuppressive therapy.
Among the six patients 2 patients succumbed to the primary disease whereas 4 patients are in remission and under follow up.
Screening and monitoring of kidney function including urine examination in patients with malignancy is important. Paraneoplastic glomerular disease should be kept as a differential diagnosis in cases of any abnormalit . Kidney biopsy should be done when indicated and decision to start immunosuppressive therapy should be made on a case to case basis.
