With the expanding applications of positive psychology, we conducted a scoping review to evaluate the PAICS framework-based intervention, with the aim of alleviating existential distress and improving the well-being of hemodialysis patients. This study provides a theoretical foundation for applying the PAICS framework in this population to enhance their positive emotions.
A scoping review was conducted. Eight databases were searched from inception to July 1, 2025, including PubMed, SinoMed, CNKI, Embase, Web of Science, Wanfang, VIP, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). Key information was extracted from the included studies, such as year of publication, intervention methods, duration, and outcome indicators.
A total of 41 articles were included. The PAICS framework has been primarily applied in populations such as cancer, depression, and HIV/AIDS patients. Among the included studies, 28 utilized multi-component positive emotion skill interventions, and 16 adopted face-to-face delivery formats.
Current PAICS-based interventions predominantly employ multi-skill components, and there is a growing trend toward self-guided and telephone-delivered intervention formats.
