Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a significant public health issue and one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in the Americas1. Identifying and understanding the impact of risk factors on the incidence of cardiorenal syndrome type 2 is of great importance.
This was an observational, analytical cohort study involving a population of 153 patients selected based on inclusion criteria. Frequency and percentage statistics were calculated, and graphs of disease association and progression were created using the statistical software SPSS (V. 30) and STATA (V. 17).
The incidence of cardiorenal syndrome type 2 (CRS2) was 11.2%. There was a male predominance. Echocardiographic findings showed that valvular heart diseases, specifically those related to the mitral and tricuspid valves, as well as left ventricular hypertrophy, had a higher percentage of occurrence in patients with CRS2.
The incidence of cardiorenal syndrome type 2 in our study was 11.2% over a median follow-up of 875 days. No statistical association was identified with the risk factors studied.
