Individuals diagnosed with chronic kidney disease have high treatment and care needs. This situation can make individuals dependent on maintaining their life and well-being in cases of deviation from health. This state of addiction affects the biopsychosocial status of people, causing them to be unable to perform daily life activities and to decrease their self-care power

The research  was carried out to evaluate chronic disease care and self-care needs in individuals with chronic diseases.

The research was planned in a descriptive and relationship-seeking model. In determining the number of samples, it was determined as 262 by taking into account the power analysis method with (effect size (p) 0.2, alpha error 0.05 and power probability 95%.

In the collection of research data, a patient diagnosis form consisting of 22 items prepared by the researcher, in which demographic data, disease compliance and drug use were evaluated, and the Chronic Disease Care Evaluation Scale were used.

The mean "chronic disease care overall" of the patients was 4.209±0.790 (Min=1; Max=5), mean "patient participation" k 4,347±0.778 (Min=1; Max=5), "decision-making" average 4,420±0,784 (Min=1; Max=5), "goal setting" average 4.101±0.928 (Min=1; Max=5), "problem solving" average 4.235±0.871 (Min=1; Max=5), the mean "follow-up coordination" was 4.086±1.042 (Min=1; Max=5), the mean "total self-care power" was 104.294±18.632 (Min=36; Max = 139).

Stepwise regression analysis to determine the factors affecting chronic disease care was found to be significant (F=6.434; p=0.012<0.05).  The total scores of the patients' self-care power differed significantly according to their educational status (F=7.027; p=0<0.05; η2=0.083).

Evaluation of how much individuals participate in their own health is only possible by evaluating their self-care management. It is of great importance for individuals diagnosed with chronic diseases to adapt to their diseases and lifestyle changes in solving their existing or future problems.
