In order to avoid temporary hemodialysis and decreasing the hospital stay early initiated PD has been designed in our study. In these patients ,PD is initiated within 5 days of PD catheter placement .In this study ,we evaluated the outcomes of early initiated PD in ESRD patients.

A single center observational study ,outcome of early initiated PD in ESRD patients was done. All patients diagnosed with ESRD from January 2021 to November 2022 and willing for CAPD were included. In early initiated PD ,1st flushing was done on Day 4th of catheter implantation and 2nd flushing done on Day 5th of catheter implantation along with low volume exchange and increased to 2000ml per dwell volume by 6th day.

During the study period,44 patients were started on peritoneal dialysis in our hospital. The mean age was 60.81 +_13.04 years .72% of patients were males with Diabetes Mellitus (63.6%) being the most common cause of CKD .The median follow up time was 6 months .Technique survival was seen in 43 patients (97.7%).Total complications in our study occurred in 3 patients out of 44 patients during this period .

Our study showed that catheter patency ,technique survival are as good in early initiated PD ,and it decreases the duration of temporary hemodialysis as well as hospital stay of the patients .
