When Disasters Are the Norm: A 2050 Kidney Care Simulation

Session description: Welcome to 2050. Climate change and frequent disruptions—including storms, heat stress on water supplies, digital outages, and near-weekly earthquakes in parts of North Asia—routinely test kidney care in the Asia–Pacific. This interactive Spotlight Session uses rapid 2050 micro-scenarios, live polling, and expert insights to explore practical, innovative strategies that can future-proof renal services for a more resilient and equitable future.

Learning objectives
1) Recognise key disaster-related disruptions likely to affect kidney care in the Asia–Pacific by 2050.

2) Test adaptive decision-making through brief 2050 simulation scenarios.

3) Identify practical, scalable strategies to strengthen renal-care resilience during disasters.
