Session Title: Addressing unmet needs in immune mediated kidney diseases, one antibody at a time
Organized by: Biogen

Session Description:
This symposium explores a unifying, mechanism-based framework for treating immune-mediated kidney diseases grounded in shared biology. Despite differences across IgA nephropathy (IgAN), primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) and antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) following kidney transplantation, these diseases converge on a common immunological basis, plasmablasts, plasma cells, and NK cells. This session will review emerging evidence which suggests that targeting these cells directly may offer an effective and durable therapeutic strategy.

Learning Objectives:
• Introduce the shared effector pathways—specifically plasmablasts and plasma cells—that drive injury across IgAN, PMN, and AMR, and differentiate them from upstream B cell–dependent mechanisms
• Examine the therapeutic response of B cell–targeted therapies and consider how persistent plasmablasts, plasma cells, and NK cells sustain ongoing pathology
• Assess emerging therapeutic strategies that target plasma cells and NK cells and consider how these approaches may impact disease control and long-term outcomes in immune-mediated kidney disorders
