Expected Outcomes:

  • Discuss Japan’s integrated care approach as a blueprint for making specialist knowledge accessible in primary care. 
  • Elaborate on cost savings from early detection and referral programs, and how these could be applied in other settings. 
  • Elaborate/discuss how public awareness campaigns and approaches to support informed patient choices could help implement the Resolution’s commitments. 
  • Identify 2–4 measures from Japan’s experience that have been most effective in addressing chronic kidney disease and discuss how these could help advance global efforts such as the WHO kidney resolution. Alternatively, highlight any additional actions needed at the national level to strengthen CKD prevention and care to support global kidney health goals.
