Introduction:
Sharesource Analytics 1.0 is a tool designed for remote monitoring of automated peritoneal dialysis patients. It allows the organization of the patient's treatment data to assist nephrologists and nurses in identifying patients who need proactive guidance or follow-up. Sharesource Analytics 1.0 integrates seamlessly with the Sharesource Clinical Portal, taking the patient treatment data from compatible automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) cyclers and summarizing parameters graphically over 180 days. Additionally, Sharesource Analytics 1.0 monitors treatment adherence indicators, peritoneal dialysis catheter health, alarms, and provides clinical guidance. This study aimed to evaluate the usability and satisfaction of this system among clinical care teams.
Methods:
This observational multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted between June and July 2024. Usability and satisfaction with Sharesource Analytics 1.0 were assessed among nephrologists and nurses using the Telehealth Usability Questionnaire (TUQ), adapted for use in APD program with remote monitoring. The TUQ evaluates five key usability factors: usefulness, ease of use, effectiveness, reliability, and satisfaction. Usability scores were calculated as the mean of all items, rated on a 7-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree).
Results:
A total of 27 professionals (20 women and seven men), including nephrologists and nurses, completed the TUQ. Twenty participants were over 40 years old, with a mean of 11.2 years (SD 8.2) of experience in peritoneal dialysis (PD) programs. An overview of the different navigation windows of Sharesource Analytics 1.0 is provided in Figure 1. Nephrologists and nurses rated their satisfaction with the new tool with a score of 6.8 (SD 0.3) and usability with an overall score of 6.8 (0.3), with the maximum possible score being 7. See details in Table 1.
Conclusions:
Sharesource Analytics 1.0 received high ratings for usability and satisfaction from nephrologists and nurses involved in PD programs. It may assist clinicians managing PD patients recognize clinical issues at an early stage and offers clinical guidance for interventions.
