Introduction:
X Spaces, formerly Twitter spaces, are dynamic platforms for nephrology community in connecting, networking, sharing, and exchange cutting edge information. This platform provides ample opportunities for the global community to interact with specific experts in the field. The International society of Nephrology had started this initiative of X Spaces during WCN 2022. Since then, X Spaces are being organized every month on a relevant topic, with experts joining the session and interacting with listeners. These sessions provide participants with direct interaction with guest speakers and enhancing knowledge dissemination. Additionally, session recordings are freely accessible for an unlimited play. X Space session is an inclusive platform of live show , open to all stake holders involved in kidney services including doctors, paramedical personnel, caretakers and patients. Expert speakers are invited to share their insights with each session lasting more than 70 minutes, depending on participant engagement.
AIM : To analyze the engagement of XSpaces in disseminating knowledge among nephrology community.
Methods:
We analyzed the existing data of X Spaces and collected information regarding the topic of discussion, listeners, duration of each session, and country of origin of speakers. A topic of interest relevant to the month or ongoing activity by the international community was chosen. Expert speakers were invited to the platform to share their views and experiences. Each session lasted for 60-70 minutes depending on the level of engagement.
Results:
Till date, 25 X Space sessions were organized with six sessions in 2022,eleven sessions in 2023 and seven sessions in 2024. Total number of live listeners were 3037 with maximum live listeners in ‘Pregnancy matters ‘ and the recording replayed by 13, 319 listeners of whom 27 were on ISN Academy. The mean duration of each session was 70 min, with a longest ( 87 minutes) for the topic ,liver-kidney disease session and shortest duration (44 minutes) for the Welcome reception of ISN-Bangkok. The topics of discussion were Chronic Kidney disease (6 ), green dialysis (2), pregnancy-kidney (2), nephrology trials (4), onconephrology (1),WCN (4), hypertension (2), tool kit (1),Tropical AKI (1), and liver kidney (2).The expert speakers were from Switzerland, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ghana, South Africa, India, Tanzania and Brazil.
Conclusions:
X-space has proven to be an excellent platform for realtime engagement of nephrology community. The level of engagement is closely tied with the relevance of the pertinent topics. Increasing the frequency of sessions and involveing diverse topics and eminent speakers would further enhance the platforms role in connecting and sharing knowledge among nephrology community.
